Lenovo and NVIDIA Unleash Hybrid AI

Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) and NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) have jointly announced an expanded partnership featuring new hybrid solutions and collaborative engineering efforts, aligning with their shared vision to make generative AI accessible to all enterprises.

In a close partnership with NVIDIA, Lenovo is set to deliver fully integrated systems that will enable AI-driven computing across the spectrum, from the edge to the cloud. This collaboration aims to facilitate the easy deployment of tailored generative AI applications, fostering innovation and transformation across diverse industries.

During the annual Lenovo Tech World keynote in Austin, Texas, Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the growing need for comprehensive solutions that combine accelerated systems, AI software, and expert services. These solutions empower businesses to swiftly build and run custom AI models using their proprietary data.

Supported by the newly introduced Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice, these offerings allow enterprises to employ a hybrid cloud approach. This approach involves crafting customized AI models using NVIDIA's AI Foundations cloud service and executing them on on-premises Lenovo systems, powered by NVIDIA's latest hardware and software designed for generative AI.

Kirk Skaugen, President of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, noted, "Together, Lenovo and NVIDIA are ushering in a new era of Hybrid AI for businesses, designing the next generation of technology that delivers an AI-powered future today, unlocking the potential of data wherever it is generated."

Bob Pette, Vice President of Enterprise Platforms at NVIDIA, added, "With generative AI at the forefront of the most significant technological transformation of our era, businesses are seeking solutions that offer the flexibility to develop and deploy workloads across workstations, data centers, and clouds. NVIDIA and Lenovo provide a comprehensive portfolio of hybrid AI systems, empowering businesses to harness the power of generative AI from virtually anywhere."

Lenovo's NVIDIA-powered systems are finely tuned to operate NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, ensuring secure, supported, and stable AI production. Organizations can customize enterprise-grade large language models using the NVIDIA NeMo™ framework, accessible through NVIDIA AI Enterprise. Employing advanced retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques and fine-tuning methods, enterprises can develop generative AI applications tailored to their unique business data, optimized for production on Lenovo's hybrid AI solutions.

At the core of this extended partnership are Lenovo's ThinkSystem SR675 V3 server and ThinkStation PX workstation, both designed for robust AI production running NVIDIA AI Enterprise. The ThinkSystem SR675V3 will include NVIDIA L40S GPUs, NVIDIA BlueField®-3 DPUs, and NVIDIA Spectrum™-X networking. The ThinkStation PX will expand AI capabilities and data center performance to desktops, allowing up to 4x NVIDIA RTX™ 6000 Ada GPUs in a system.

Furthermore, Lenovo and NVIDIA will collaborate on next-generation systems based on the flexible NVIDIA MGX™ modular reference design, offering a wide array of secure and robust solutions for demanding generative AI workloads. These systems will facilitate the implementation of immersive simulations and cognitive decisions at scale using NVIDIA Omniverse™, a platform for connecting and developing OpenUSD applications.

Lenovo's solutions will also support the recently announced VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA, simplifying the adoption of generative AI for VMware customers.

To support the deployment of AI with confidence, the companies are jointly introducing the Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice and Lenovo's TruScale aaS offering. This allows businesses to adopt a pay-as-you-go model, offering a range of services, solutions, and platforms. The Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice assists businesses of all sizes in navigating the AI landscape, finding the right solutions, and quickly, cost-effectively, and at scale, putting AI to work for their organizations. It takes AI from concept to reality, covering aspects like designing AI roadmaps, deploying platforms, and providing insights into technology utilization through the Lenovo TruScale Hub.
